Sias Heckel or Frederick William Heckel the 5th. I was born in Ossipee NH in 1983 on Sias Farm. My sister was also born on the farm four years later. School was awesome for me because it had a playground and kids to socialize with. I didn't care that I wasn't good at the desk end of things, I wasn't even aware of that part. Gradually throughout high school I realized a few important things: Art was my favorite class, my parents are actually the opposite of dumb, and that if I wanted to follow in my fathers footsteps and attend college it would be through the arts. I found an awesome fine arts school in Southern NH, four years later I graduated with a bachelors in studio art and an unfulfilled minor in art education. I’d traveled periodically throughout my life with friends and family and had an urge to scratch this itch more now than ever. Off to Albania, Greece then South America and Canada finally landing in Jackson WY. For ten years I juggled occupations such as an adaptive ski guide at JHMR and a paraprofessional at Jackson Elementary and a golf course maintenance lead at one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world located at the base of the Grand Teton. Towards the end of my stay in WY I reunited with a great friend I had met in Martha's vineyard a decade prior. She ended up moving to WY to live with me and now we own a home in Jaffrey NH and share an amazing bond with our little son the 6th. My wife and I share an appreciation for food, specifically being part of where it comes from. We raise chickens, rabbits and a little boy, the 6th. We grow kale, pumpkins and curiosity at our farm (zero acres) and harvest from the ocean fish and crustaceans along with deer and mushrooms from nearby forests. It was in this town that I met Chris Heys. A few years later I found myself fully immersed in an amazing new community leading the art department at HCS. I truly love the moment when people amaze themselves with something they did. This is my job at HCS, to create these opportunities for great people. HCS allows me to explore the things I'm passionate about and share these ways with others. I've been working at HCS since September of 2023, each positive impact made builds to my affirmation of being a member of this community.
