Family-style meals

Community meals have special importance at Hampshire Country School. Our meal program strives to use fresh, whole ingredients, some of which are grown by students and staff on school grounds. We also pay attention to our relationships in our community and environment to prioritize our purchasing toward local, sustainably grown food.

We work hard to accommodate food allergies and sensitivities and are happy to sit down with families to make sure we understand food needs.

Dining is an opportunity for the development of social communication. Because we are a small school, the entire community gathers daily at lunch for a traditional family-style meal. Students and faculty converse about their day and plans, much like a family do at home. We also provide a quiet option for dining should a student require this. With the exception of Sunday evening when Formal Dinner is held and formal dress is expected, most dinners are informal in tone and dress. Occasionally Formal Dinners are called for special occasions.
