My name is Teddy Schmader, and I am the Dean of Students at Hampshire Country School. I began my journey at Hampshire Country School in 2017 as a dorm parent, a role I held for five years. Now in my fourth year as Dean, I relish the opportunity to work closely with each student every day. Originally from Princeton, NJ, I graduated from college in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. During college, I spent my summers at my old camp in central New Hampshire, serving as the Basketball Director and cabin counselor. After college, I worked in sales in Washington, D.C., for a year and a half before joining HCS. At HCS, my day-to-day work involves supporting students who may need breaks from class for various reasons. I aim to connect with them during these times to better understand how we can enhance their overall experience. I believe that building authentic relationships with students is essential to ensuring they feel safe and supported in our learning environment. Beyond my work with students, I am responsible for compiling report cards, scheduling classes and events, and maintaining regular communication with parents about their child’s progress in all aspects of boarding school life. In addition to these responsibilities, I enjoy connecting with students through sports, outdoor activities, or simply through daily conversations. Every interaction with our students, whether a deep conversation or a quiet moment, offers an opportunity to make a positive impact. I look forward to continuing to foster these connections, big and small, and helping students thrive at HCS. |
